Exploding feathers

The swirling smokestack, black as a top hat

Cloud overhead

The silo and shed

Dust in my eyes from the gusts in the skies

Elephant snout

Snarl and shout

Twist like a drill as it feasts on the field

I lock the door, close the windows

I hit the floor, howling wind blows

I see a flash, blinding white light

Thunderous freight train breaks the skylight

The shattered glass, shaken snow globe

Goes flying past, cuts my earlobe

Down the stairs, lock the cellar

Thousand things I want to tell her

Her photograph, smiling sweetly

She used to laugh, used to need me

A printed scene, soft and lovely

But the wind it blew and took you from me

It took the walls, took the ceiling

It left me broken, bent, and reeling

I’m all alone in a shattered city

But I’ll find your picture if it kills me
